On Ice

Wandering the frozen crust of Utah lake during one of the first days of January is becoming a tradition in my family. Last year, after weeks of freezing temperatures, the lake's surface was a thick sturdy sheet of ice. This year, with our cool autumn-like weather, the ice felt fragile. After a loud crack snapped under Alex's feet we headed in pretty quickly.
