It's hard to find words for this day. We explored a part of the swell that was covered in history. It was incredible to put my hand on the cold rock wall and feel the evidence of an ancient civilization. I realized as I did so that those messages were left with the intent that future generations would find them, with the intent that we would look at them and try to understand their meaning. It was dizzying to realize that their efforts hadn't been in vain, that we were indeed looking at their drawings, and touching their carvings, and we knew that they had lived. It felt like the tiniest taste of eternity.
